Small Works Holiday Show

12 – 6 PM at the Light Room Salon Gallery,
2024 Wallace Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

Members and friends of the Light Room will be displaying and selling photographs at the Small Works Holiday Show. Take advantage of a chance to purchase a holiday gift of photographic art from a local artist.
The show will also feature original photographs from several Light Room artists who have generously donated their image for Holiday Cards for the Gift of Life program.

The Gift of Life Family House a program of Gift of Life Donor Program, provides a “home away from home,” for families of transplant patients traveling to Philadelphia to be with their loved ones during a difficult time.

This holiday card project emerged with the Light Room’s photographers joining together after one of their members, along with her family, spent many nights at a similar facility caring for a young loved one during a transplant. It is in this child’s honor that the cards were created.

During the Dec. 11 opening reception for the “Small Works Holiday Show,” the photo artists will raffle off their images. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Gift of Life Family House. The Holiday Card Package will also be available for purchase at that time.

Join us for yet another fabulous Lightroom Salon event. This Salon will feature photographic artist Kaitlin Mosley. Kaitlin will be showing a body of work entitled “expiration”. As always we encourage all visitors to bring work to display and discuss. The salon will located at 2024 Wallace street, Philadelphia PA 19130 on June 12th from 6-9.

LIGHTROOM OPEN HOUSE 5.2.10

Please join the Lightroom for our Grand Opening / Open House. We will be showing group work in our own Garage Gallery located at 1909 Wilcox Street, Philadelphia PA 19130. The Open House will be from 2pm – 6pm and will include tours of the facility, examples of member work and will feature the photography of member Tom Sheeder Jr.

The Lightroom will be showing group work for the Fairmount Arts Crawl at the London Grill which is located on the corner of 23rd and Fairmount avenue. The Fairmount Arts Crawl has always been a fun event to bring the family to, so bring the family and make a day of it. We look forward to seeing you there!!

All members are welcome to start using the darkroom. Here’s what you can expect:

Black / White wet lab
Developing station.. BOTH COLOR AND B / W !!
Alternative Process : Plate maker !!
DIgital Lab : epson scanner and printer!
Finishing Area: 20×24 dry mount press !!

Join us for another wonderful evening of Photography, conversation and libations. The LightRoom will be hosting a Photo Salon featuring photographer and printmaker, Richard Boutwel
“The photographer and printmaker, Richard Boutwell, is native to the High Desert of southern California and has called Philadelphia home since 2004. His main focus is exploring the world through the contemporary landscape while keeping the aesthetic considerations of 19th century survey photographers, as well as 20th century modernist photographers, as a qualitative standard and point of departure for his own method of working. The photographs on view are all aerial photographs, printed large format in platinum/palladium, of the intersections between the natural habitat and human recreation in the southern California desert.
Among his numerous other projects, he is also currently working on a long term photographic documentation of the restoration of the Lower Owens River, which began in late 2006, undoing the environmental damages caused when it was diverted nearly 100 years ago to support Los Angeles’s explosive growth.”
